Some years ago, when we were regularly visiting a friend in a nursing home, we met a resident there named Mary. She didn’t talk much and we never learned her story, but she would sit in the dining hall smiling beatifically at something or someone the rest of us couldn’t see. She inspired a short poem entitled, "In a Nursing Home".

We intend to use the poem as the basis for a children’s book. In the meantime, though, I composed a very simple melody for the poem, which Isidora arranged beautifully for a cappella choir. Thanks for listening!
