Volume 6 of Spiritual Counsels

This is the sixth volume of the series 'Spiritual Counsels of the Elder Paisios of Mount Athos'.  This new volume in the collected teaching of Elder Paisios of Mt. Athos deals specifically with prayer. The elder insisted that we understand prayer to be a necessity and earnestly sought to help those who had not learned to pray "to make a start in order to get their heart working on prayer".

The book discusses prayer more generally, the hindrances that we encounter in prayer, the Mother of God and the saints who pray for us, watchfulness, prayer in church, and having constant doxology and thanksgiving toward God.  The Jesus Prayer is also discussed. As with other volumes it has spiritual depth but is understandable for Christians of any age and spiritual experience.
